Downey Clean is a family owned carpet cleaning company based in Lancaster, Ohio. John M. Downey founded the business in 1897 as a small rug cleaning shop in the back of his bakery on the west side of Columbus. A Rug Shop Behind a Bakery
The first John M. Downey opened a small rug cleaning shop in the back of his bakery on the west side of Columbus. He started it to help support his wife and eight children. He never imagined the business would survive through five generations.
