At Downey Clean we train our technicians
to understand tile and grout.
Tile has become a very popular choice for homeowners that
want a durable floor covering that will last for years.
We understand the market and train our technicians to be skilled in cleaning all types of tile
surfaces.
Ceramic Tile - Glazed Ceramic Tile
is comprised of two basic elements, clay and water. Various
clays are mined, ground and blended to a fine powder, and
pressed together to form the body of the tile. The pressed
clay body is then dried to reduce the moisture content. Next,
the surface of the tile is coated with a colored glaze
(similar to glass). The glaze is then permanently fused to the
surface of the tile by firing it in kilns at approximately
2000° Fahrenheit.
Glass Tile - Glass tiles are pieces of glass formed
into consistent shapes. Since the 1990’s a variety of
modern glass tile technologies, including methods to take used
glass and recreate it as ‘green’ tiles, has resulted in a
resurgence of interest in glass tile as a floor and wall
cladding. It is now commonly used in kitchens, spas and
bathrooms.
Porcelain Tile - Porcelain tile is a type of ceramic made of a very
fine mixture of clays and minerals similar to those found in
fine dinnerware. These special clays allow porcelain tile to
be fired at temperatures even higher than ceramic tile,
typically exceeding 2,400 degrees (F). The higher temperature
results in a very dense tile. And the denser a tile, the
better it resists moisture.Natural Stone Tile -
Natural stone tile is made by mining and cutting large block
of stone into small shapes that can be easily applied to floor
and wall surfaces. These tiles are available in many
varieties like Slate, Travertine, Granite, Marble, Sandstone,
Limestone, Quartzite.
Terra Cotta Tile - Is a clay baked unglazed ceramic
tile. The unglazed color after firing comes in many
shades of orange, orange/red or brownish orange because of the
high iron content in the clay.
